Quietly deighted - Jalashwary 2016

Well what a transformation! When I first visited and sat beneath the huge tree I was face, on three sides by the meanest and lowliest of buildings - this was Jalashwary school. Over the years I have returned five or six times and each time seen how it has grown and progressed. Today was no different: Room to Read have established a library here, a local politician has funded an additional classroom; the toilet block is maintained well and now even has a disabled toilet; and over 300 children now benefit from the efforts of 15 teachers: some government funded and some locally funded. When we arrived I was delighted to see a cohort of some 15 Taiwanese youngsters working in the classrooms and providing stimulating ... get up and go ... activities for learning English. Apparently they are part of an organisation which sends a group for 3-8 days, 3 times each year. I had never witnessed these children laughing whilst learning before ... it was a real joy. The older pupils read easily and fluently to me about conservation and sustainability ... in English! Wow!
