Around the vilage

During my time in Salyan VDC, school was scheduled for 5 and half days each week. However there were numerous times when school was shut for a festival or for study leave in preparation for the end of year exams. I therefore had plenty of time to stroll around the hillside, although I did curtail my walks for a couple of days after being shown the paw print of a large cat -  probably leopard, I was then almost convinced that there was some dangerous feline in the area as I was also told that if you can't hear jackals at every hour of the day and night, there is is a tiger in the area. In addition to this, that night when I was settling into my sleeping bag I heard the most awful noise echoing up he valley and this was repeated twice. My nerves were a bit wobbly as I tiptoed to the front wall of my little house and ensured that the wooden wedges were in place to keep doors and 'windows' shut! I then lay for several moments thinking that really a tiger's claws would no doubt be able to peel back the tin walls of my home as easily as I might open a tin of sardines. So that night I slept fitfully and abandoned the idea of a walk the next day until I had learned more. Well of course it turned out that the sound I had heard was in fact a buffalo in labour! What a fool am I!

Hopefuly this road will be finished next time I visit!
